I have remembered the day President Kennedy was assassinated and the destruction of the twin towers on September 9, 2001 as the darkest days of my life, but 2020 is a year filled with devastating memories. Who would have ever believed a virus could shut the world down? Who could have known the impact it would have on every part of our lives? Many places around the globe look like the ruins of war. People might wonder where God is.
Be assured that God has not moved. He is Faithful and True. His love is amazing. Not everything in 2020 was bad. We have benefitted from the good of isolation. Many folks like myself have picked up their desire to write. They have finished and published books. They have started websites and blogs. They have started hobbies and projects. I never thought we could be Christians in a box, but that’s what I feel like at home. I made the decision to reach out to others by writing on this blog to encourage and inspire. I have time to read, knit or make jewelry, which become gifts to friends and family.
The beauty of God’s creation speaks of His great love for the world–birds of every color feed at the feeders in the back yard, the colors of crepe myrtles, azaleas, camellias, crimson fire bushes and roses are breathtaking. We’ve gone on more boat rides and car rides. We’ve kayaked and gone on more walks. Let God’s creation speak of His love to you too.

As we come to the end of 2020 and look forward to a new year in 2021, let God love you. Let His presence fill you with joy and hope to endure what comes–good times or bad; sorrow or celebration; suffering or healing.
PRAY ABOUT IT
Lord God Almighty, we pray for the new year 2021. Empower us to be faithful in tough times and in good times. When we are away from our isolation, help us to remember to be thoughtful, respectful and helpful. Make us beacons of your light and love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
